Basic Sailing Certificate
Private Instruction — 16 Hours on the Water
Windward's is the only club in the bay that offers private instruction for beginners. Our one-on-one classes ensure that you receive the necessary training to be safe and have fun on the water. Private instruction also allows you to learn at your own pace. Not being constrained by a weekly schedule can even allow you to finish the instruction in a shorter amount of time. Training for a basic sailing certificate includes:
- Boat Preparation
- Engine Review
- Docking

- Rules of the Road

- Tacking & Jibbing
- Weather Helm & Reefing
- Man Overboard

Price: $850 — Includes the boat, instructor, and instruction for you and a sailing companion if you bring one.
Coastal Navigation
To be certified for sailing at night or during any overnight trips, you must complete this two-hour class or pass our navigation test. Our Coastal Navigation lesson is the basis of all navigation and covers:

Members with prior sailing experience may challenge our check-ride and navigation test to become a member by submitting a sailing resume and passing our tests.
